We hosted our rehearsal dinner at The Space and could not have been happier! Laura and her team were great to work with and answered every question and need we had. All of our guests and family raved about the food, service, and ambiance. I'd highly recommend anyone looking for a venue to host a rehearsal dinner in Charlottesville to check out The Space.
All the feedback from our guests was very positive. The Space was perfect for the wedding reception. It was very clean and laid out very well for our group of 120. The hors d'oeuvres were delicious and plentiful. The staff was professional and attentive. We especially appreciated how they attended to the children - bringing out some child friendly appetizers and serving the children their main course ahead of the adults.
The entrees were delicious. They were cooked to perfection, flavorful and presented well. We could not have been more pleased with the evening.
We had an absolutely perfect evening at The Space Downtown! Prior to the event Laura was an absolute expert communicator, tending to every little detail, often things we hadn't even thought about. On the night everything ran so smoothly and they were quick to make on-the-fly adjustments as needed (projector presentations, food request changes, changing headcount, etc.). On top of it all, the space is beautiful, the food delicious, and a creme brulee dessert you have to put in your lineup. A huge thank you to The Space for starting our wedding weekend off right!
The space, food and service were excellent. We received positive feedback from our employees regarding the meal and service. This was the easiest corporate event to plan thanks to Laura, the event manager. The Space Downtown delivered exactly what we requested, customization of the meal and service style and the space was perfect for our group. We look forward to using them again in the future.

Laura and her team at The Space are awesome! I’d like to take credit for my son’s lovely, successful rehearsal dinner, but the truth is that Laura did almost everything. I merely provided a few photos, a slide presentation, and favors. She and her team suggested the menu, designed the floor plan, set lovely tables, made certain that our slide presentation and music played successfully, and guided us through every step of the evening. She even last minute provided the flower arrangements because I failed to confirm that aspect of the party. Because we live out of state, it was especially important to have someone who could handle all the details. We received comments throughout the evening about the excellent wait staff, too. Every aspect of the evening was perfect!
The Space Downtown was the perfect place for our son and his fiance’s Rehearsal Dinner. The venue was beautiful and spacious with unique and old town charm. It was a great location to where many of our guests were staying and parking was plentiful. The food was delicious with so many options. There were many preset menus to choose from, but the Chef was flexible to make any changes based on our preferences. Laura, the Event Manager, was amazing to work with. She communicated quickly and clearly and made it very easy to plan. She took care of everything. Her experience, suggestions, and guidance made the evening fun and flow well. The costs were very clearly outlined in the packages with no last minute add-ons or surprises. We had a Welcome Party after the Rehearsal Dinner so out of town guests who arrived on Friday could join us for dessert and drinks. That was such a nice option and, with Laura’s suggestions, was very easy to work in. Would highly recommend The Space Downtown!
The team at the Space was incredible. They accommodated all of our requests and prepared a delicious lunch for our corporate retreat. Multiple people said it was the best lunch they'd had during the whole retreat. It was a great experience, and I would definitely work with the Space again in the future.
The Space Downtown was the perfect venue for our son and his bride’s rehearsal dinner. The space itself is modern and flexible, with warm brick walls, cozy banquettes, and tea lights. It lends itself to many styles of decor but is lovely with even the simplest of touches. The food was absolutely superb. Our guests raved about the Paleo and Vegetarian menu, which the chefs put together with such finesse that people were going back with delight for seconds and thirds. The potato encrusted trout, the braised beef, the gorgeous side dishes—all were a HUGE hit. The bar selections were spot on. Most of all, Laura made planning the whole evening a breeze, and she and the staff made sure that everything went smoothly the day of the event. It was so much more private and special than hosting a rehearsal dinner in a restaurant. I highly recommend The Space Downtown!
Thanks to the Space Downtown, Laura, and the team for making our event so wonderful. Everyone enjoyed themselves, and loved the space, which has a great bar and good ambiance. The food was delicious and was quite substantial, considering it was a cocktail party. Laura made planning the event super easy, and provided great menu suggestions. We will definitely look at booking the Space Downtown again for our future events.
We recently utilized The Space Downtown to host a rehearsal dinner for 40 people. The Event Manager, Laura Price, was a delight to work with and was so accommodating with our initial visit and with all my many questions. She gave great advice on putting our menu together and the pricing was clear and within our budget. She answered emails promptly and made it easy to plan even with our being from out of town. And the event itself was fabulous. We received so many compliments on the food and the uniqueness and classiness of the space. Drinks were quickly refreshed during the meal and the buffet was efficient and presented beautifully. It truly was a blessed event and The Space Downtown helped make it so! I am happy to recommend The Space Downtown to anyone looking to host an event in Charlottesville.
We hosted a rehearsal dinner for 75 at The Space and couldn't have been happier. The tables looked beautiful with all of the flowers and candles on the white linens. Since it was a November wedding, the room was very romantic and cozy feeling with the lights dimmed and the overhead balloon shades lighted. The food was excellent and was presented so nicely and served seamlessly by the kind and efficient wait staff. The Space's manager is very easy to work with. She was so helpful with various recommendations with the menu, flowers, candles, chalk art and table layout. Most importantly, she stayed calm from beginning to end of the entire process. Our guests raved about the food, the ambiance and the evening as a whole. I highly recommend The Space Downtown for a private event.
We absolutely loved hosting our wedding reception at The Space Downtown! Laura, Tim, Vincent, and team took care of everything. Our guests still talk about the food and I love to brag to them that it was a custom designed menu. Having everything in one place and all included in the same invoice was really important to us as it allowed us to focus on family, friends, and having a great time. The Space embraced our small, intimate vibe and helped us craft a celebration that was so uniquely 'us'. So many people have told me since the wedding that the day felt true to who we are as a couple--not 'wedding in a box'. The Space helped make that a reality!

We hosted our son's Rehearsal Dinner and Welcome Party at The Space Downtown. From the planning with manager Laura Price to the take-down at night's end, it was a wonderful experience. Laura is experienced, calm, and politely handled the many questions asked by a first-time mother of the groom! The entire staff was friendly and efficient. The food was superb, as were the wines paired with it. The Space Downtown has an intimate, urban vibe and is a great choice for hosting an event.
We had a wonderful time celebrating our work holiday party at The Space Downtown. The staff were exceptional in assisting with planning, executing, and offering suggestions. Everyone loved the atmosphere and the food was incredible tasting and very high quality. We picked a nice variety of different flavors and the chefs added some nice dishes to compliment everything. The bacon wrapped dates melted in your mouth, and the Brussels sprouts were divine! Overall, our holiday party was successful and our staff enjoyed getting to celebrate in a convenient and lovely location.
We used The Space Downtown to host a cocktail reception for a group of recruits, current students, and faculty. Everyone was very pleased with the venue. It is conveniently located near the Downtown Mall and there is plenty of parking nearby. The service was exceptional. In the months leading up to the event, I worked a lot with the Event Manager, Laura, who helped me craft a delicious menu that would meet various dietary restrictions. Additional, the venue is spacious and very accommodating to groups of various sizes. Our group of approximately 60 people fit comfortably into the area. Another aspect of event planning that can be daunting is staying within budget. This venue is very affordable; we were able to stay within our budget, which is pretty restricted for the type of event and amount of people. Again, our group was very pleased with The Space Downtown, so pleased that we plan to use this venue again next year to host our cocktail reception.
